Compensation for missed connecting flight
Have you ever had a flight canceled at the so-called last minute? If so, you probably don't have pleasant memories of that experience. We don't blame you, as a flight cancellation can severely complicate a vacation or business trip. However, there are cases where you are entitled to financial compensation for a cancellation. Only a tiny percentage of passengers know about this fact. We, however, have many years of experience in this area. Our team of professionals stands on the side of you and your rights.
When am I entitled to compensation for a flight cancellation?
The legal framework for financial compensation is called Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which establishes common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers. You don't need to study any regulations; we've done that for you.
In short, if certain conditions are met, you have an undeniable right to financial compensation for a flight cancellation. What are these conditions?
Even if you're unsure whether you're entitled to compensation, be sure to contact us. We will find out all the essential details and, if necessary, take care of your rights.
Extra tip: if you have both flights under one reservation and miss the connecting flight, the airline must provide and cover the cost of an alternative connection and, if necessary, accommodation.
HELP: Specific example.
“Maja purchased a flight from Košice to Vienna and then a connecting flight to Brussels as part of one reservation. However, there were technical complications on the plane in Košice that required immediate resolution.
The original departure from Košice was scheduled for 09:30, from Vienna at 11:30, and arrival in Brussels was supposed to be at 14:00. The technical issues were resolved relatively quickly, and Maja departed from Košice at 10:15, but she missed her connecting flight in Vienna. The next available flight was at 15:30, and she landed in Brussels after six o'clock. Thus, she arrived at her final destination more than three hours after the originally planned arrival time, making her eligible for compensation.
The distance between Košice and Brussels (with a stopover in Vienna) is less than 1,500 kilometers, so the compensation amount is €250.”
